In a single visit, we can use the CEREC system to create and place dental crowns, restoring your smile and preventing major complications. No need for two to three visits, and you obtain results that blend with your smile. In today’s blog, your Sheridan, WY, dentist talks about how we create our same-day dental crowns.
When Teeth Need a Restoration
A dental crown covers the entire visible portion of your smile, which means we can address a number of restorative concerns, restoring optimal health, function, and beauty to your smile again. We could provide a crown to repair damaged teeth, such as cracks and chips, and to length teeth worn down by grinding and clenching. Placement could reshape malformed teeth and improve overall bite balance and chewing function. Placement could also address more severe cases of tooth decay, or complete a root canal to extract an infected tooth. If you have missing teeth, one or two could be used to secure a dental bridge, and one could restore an individual dental implant.
Creating Same-Day CEREC Restoration
At one time, receiving a crown meant you needed to miss work or school for at least two to three days. But with the CAD/CAM CEREC system, our team can create and place them in only one appointment. To do so, we will first numb your tooth to keep you comfortable as we remove structure to make room for the restoration. We then take digital images from multiple angles, which we use to create a 3D impression. Next, we upload the information into an onsite milling machine. The machine crafts the finished product from dental ceramic, and we make sure it is color matched to blend with your smile. Finally, we attach the finished product in the same visit with a powerful bonding agent. In one visit, we restore your tooth!
Protecting Your Smile
We often use restorations to protect teeth from decay and other issues. But you can take actions to help prevent these concerns and protect your teeth. Make sure you take time to brush your teeth in the morning and at night for two minutes each time. You should use a fluoride toothpaste too, and also be sure you floss every evening. Try to cut back on sugary foods and drinks, and avoid tobacco products. Finally, be sure to see our team every six months for a checkup and cleaning visit.
