Creating A Lifelike Dental Bridge

When you lose a tooth, you may feel embarrassed about your appearance. But your oral health and bite functions can suffer as well! Which is why securing replacement teeth is so important. In today’s blog, your Sheridan, WY, dentist talks about how our team designs and creates a custom dental bridge with CEREC technology.

Tackling on Your Tooth Loss

Don’t live with gaps in your smile. Tooth loss could increase the risk of misalignment, as the teeth drift when there is a sudden gap. Misalignment not only changes the appearance of your smile further, but increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. In addition, you could have trouble eating your favorite foods, speaking clearly, and may feel embarrassed and avoid social interactions. To avoid these complications, you need to fill the gap with a natural-looking dental bridge, one that looks and functions like natural teeth.

Creating Your Prosthetic With CEREC

Did you know that we can create and place your custom dental bridge in only one visit? With the CEREC system, we employ CAD/CAM technology to complete the process in one sitting. To get started, our team will numb the teeth on each side of your smile and remove structure from them. We then take detailed digital images of these abutment teeth, which we will then use to create a detailed 3D impression. We upload the information into the onsite milling machine, which crafts the finished product from solid ceramic. The material is very durable and can handle daily bite forces. We can also color match it to blend with your smile seamlessly.

Securing Your New Smile

The bridge will contain your new tooth or teeth, as bridges can address up to three missing teeth in a row. There will be a crown on one or both sides which we will connect to the abutment teeth. This secures your new teeth directly in place, so you can smile with confidence. Caring for the prosthetic is easy, as you brush and floss it as you would natural teeth, and also clean the space between the top of the gums and the bottom of the prosthetic. With routine care, they can last as long as 10 to 15 years on average.

If you have one to three missing teeth in a row, then talk to our team about our custom dental prosthetics. We can use a bridge to help you enjoy a complete smile and avoid the complications of missing teeth.
