When you suffer from minor tooth loss, such as one to three missing teeth in a row, we could replace them with a dental bridge. Using the CEREC system, we can actually design, fabricate, and then secure a prosthetic in only one visit. In today’s blog, your Sheridan, WY, dentist talks about our custom dental bridges.
Minor Tooth Loss
When you lose a tooth, or as many as three to four in a row, this could mean major problems for your smile. For example, the gaps could cause embarrassment and lead to you hiding your smile from the world. Eating many of your favorite meals could be difficult, which means relying solely on soft foods. You may also find the changes to your bite balance leads to painful disorders like TMD or even bruxism (teeth grinding). To restore function and health to your smile, and improve your smile’s beauty, you need to replace your missing teeth with a dental bridge.
Dental Prosthetics
A dental bridge is called this because it literally bridges the gap in your smile. The prosthetic contains a new tooth, or several, with dental crowns at one or both ends. The crown portions are placed onto the abutment teeth, the natural ones on each side of the gap that we gently remove structure from to make room for the crown. The prosthetic is made from ceramic, a material that can be shaded to look natural and blend with the smile. The material can also absorb daily bite forces and pressures with ease, restoring your ability to eat your favorite meals and smile without hesitation.
CEREC Technology
Using CEREC CAD/CAM technology, our team can create and secure a dental bridge in only one visit. To begin, we will numb your smile and remove structure from the teeth on each side of the gap. We then gather detailed digital images of these teeth from multiple angles, and then combine them to create a 3D impression. Using this, we will design the prosthetic and then upload the information into the onset milling machine. The dental prosthetic is then crafted from a solid block of ceramic. We check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before we attach your new teeth.
With proper care and attention, your new prosthetic could last for 10 to 15 years to come. If you have any questions about our one-visit CEREC dental bridges, then contact our team today to learn more and get started on your road to a full smile.
